Neurology is a specialty offered at Diagnosfera Referral Veterinary Centre in San Sebastián de los Reyes. Neurological diseases affect the central nervous system (the brain and the spinal cord) and/or the peripheral (the nerves and ganglia outside the brain and spinal cord).
Some neurological symptoms include:
- Paresis: the partial absence of voluntary movement of one or more limbs.
- Paralysis: the total absence of voluntary movement in one or more limbs.
- Ataxia and incoordination.
- Tremors.
- Loss of balance, head tilts.
- Anomalous behaviors.
- Depression of mental state.
- Seizures.
Since the beginning of the use of CT in medicine, one of the main applications has been its use in neurology.
The diagnosis of diseases in the central nervous system and at peripheral level, as in the case of herniated discs, has developed exponentially. Even though there are relatively more sensitive techniques at brain level with MRI, CT allows us to diagnose numerous central and spinal pathologies, supported by the possibility of myelo CT with contrast injected into the spinal canal and / or sampling of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
Our staff with special training in this area, develops this specialty, from consultation and neurological examination to interconsultations with other external neurosurgeons in order to advise and coordinate each case with the center of origin.
