Veterios, Referral and 24-Hour Veterinary Hospital, Opens in Madrid

On Monday, June 27th 2022, Veterios, the new referral and 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital opened its doors. Veterios, with a 1750 m2 footprint, has state-of-the-art technological equipment and is led by European Diplomat specialists, thus becoming the standard of the veterinary group that has more than 73 veterinary centers in Spain and Portugal.

Veterios offers specialized services and treatments exclusively for patients referred by other veterinary centers, in addition to an emergency services 365 days a year and 24 hours a day open to the whole public. The goal is to complement and help first-opinion veterinary clinics with more complex services and specialties, as well as to provide support with overnight hours and emergencies. The initial team is comprised of 27 professionals including veterinarians, assistants and receptionists who are coordinated by a team of European specialists in the disciplines of soft tissue surgery, traumatology/orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery, internal medicine, anesthesia and analgesia management, rehabilitation and diagnostic imaging, all committed to providing the highest levels of veterinary healthcare and treatment.

The Facilities & Architectural Design

Veterios’ facilities include 8 differentiated consultations for canines and felines, 4 fully equipped operating rooms for advanced surgeries and minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopy and arthroscopy, independent hospitalizations for animals with infectious diseases, a complete laboratory, a pharmacy area, separate rooms for CT, MRI, x-ray and ultrasound diagnostics, , physiotherapy and hydrotherapy area, a large training and conference room, an outdoor area for dogs and dedicated parking.

The hospital has been designed by the prestigious UK architectural firm, Jo Cowen, and adapted and executed for the site by Dobleese. Ana Sumastre, Unavets’ architect and project manager for the construction comments, “Building Veterios, which was formerly a warehouse site, and transforming the space to what it is today in the span of less than a year has been a huge challenge. Felipe de Vicente has also ensured the hospital was designed in a sustainable way and in order for the animals, their pet parents and the staff to find a comfortable, calming and operationally efficient design which offers professional veterinary healthcare in a welcoming environment.

Veterios is located in the northeast of Madrid, next to the Plenilunio shopping center. In the area of the Mercedes polygon at the exit of the A2 at the height of the M-40, with easy access from the M40, A2 and M21.
