Vitoria to Open Its First 24-Hour Veterinary Centre: The Gasteiz Veterinary Hospital

The Gasteiz Veterinary Hospital, an innovative centre dedicated to comprehensive pet care, has opened its doors in Vitoria, offering a 24-hour emergency service to the public and acting as a referral centre for other veterinary clinics.

This hospital, boasting over 600 square metres of state-of-the-art facilities, is led by Thais García Correa and comprised of an excellent team of 14 veterinary professionals and assistants. The hospital provides referral services in Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiology, Feline Specialist Care, Neurology, Dentistry, Oncology, and Traumatology.

The hospital has been designed to ensure the well-being of every patient, featuring separate waiting rooms for dogs and cats, three exclusive canine consultation rooms, and two dedicated feline consultation rooms. Additionally, it offers treatment rooms and hospitalisation areas divided by species, ensuring an appropriate environment for each animal’s recovery. Among its facilities, there is an intensive care unit (ICU) and an isolation room for patients with infectious diseases, allowing for the safe management of the most complex cases.

The Gasteiz Veterinary Hospital is equipped with a comprehensive laboratory and diagnostic tools, including an X-ray, dental radiology equipment, ultrasound, and CT, enabling the swift and accurate detection of a wide range of issues and diseases. Furthermore, it has a pre-surgery area and two fully equipped operating theatres for conducting advanced surgeries with the utmost safety during each procedure.

In the surgical area, the hospital is equipped with endoscopy instruments and an advanced anaesthesia system featuring multiparameter monitors and ventilators, ensuring comprehensive patient monitoring during even the most delicate operations.

The Gasteiz Veterinary Hospital is not only focused on clinical treatment but is also committed to veterinary training. It houses a classroom where specialist-led training sessions will be held, playing a key role in the professional development of the region’s veterinary staff, who can also refer complicated cases to the hospital.

Thais García Correa, the hospital’s director, notes: “A veterinary centre of this calibre was needed in Vitoria, a city that required a specialised 24-hour emergency hospital.  We look forward to welcoming and serving the area with a high level of care.”

Junko Sheehan, CEO of UNAVETS, comments: “We are thrilled to continue our Group’s expansion with the addition of a new state of the art hospital like Gasteiz.  The greenfield design was modeled after Veterios, our flagship hospital in Madrid. Under Thais’ leadership and with the team’s commitment, we believe that Gasteiz will meet the region’s current demand for emergency and critical care, as well as the growing need for specialist veterinary healthcare.
